About the Opportunity
DeviceDriven is looking for a Senior DevOps / SRE Engineer, who will be a hands-on contributor responsible for building, operating, and improving a reliable, secure, and scalable cloud platform using GCP, Kubernetes, Infrastructure-as-Code, and GitOps practices.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys production ownership, automation, and reliability engineering, and who wants to work close to real systems rather than only design reviews.
Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on DevOps / SRE engineer with strong experience in:
- Cloud infrastructure (primarily GCP)
- Kubernetes-based platforms
- Terraform and automation
- CI/CD pipelines
- Observability, incident response, and reliability engineering
You will work closely with application engineering, security, and platform teams to ensure systems are stable, secure, performant, and cost-efficient.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Infrastructure & Operations (GCP + Multi-Cloud)
- Operate and support cloud infrastructure across multiple environments (dev, staging, production)
- Implement and maintain networking, IAM, security, and compute resources on GCP
- Support multi-cloud workloads where required (AWS/Azure exposure is a plus)
- Participate in capacity planning and cost optimization initiatives
Infrastructure-as-Code & Automation
- Build and maintain infrastructure using Terraform
- Contribute to reusable Terraform modules and IaC standards
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, updates, and validations
- Help migrate manual or legacy setups to fully automated IaC workflows
Kubernetes & Platform Engineering
- Operate production-grade Kubernetes clusters (GKE or equivalent)
- Deploy and manage workloads using Helm and/or Kustomize
- Support rollout strategies such as rolling deployments, blue-green, or canary
- Implement Kubernetes security best practices (RBAC, network policies, secrets)
CI/CD & GitOps
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar)
- Automate build, test, and deployment workflows
- Support GitOps-based deployment models for infrastructure and applications
- Improve pipeline reliability, security, and deployment speed
SRE: Reliability, Observability & Incident Management
- Design and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems
- Work with metrics, logs, and traces (Prometheus, Datadog, OpenTelemetry, etc.)
- Define and track SLIs/SLOs for critical services
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive fixes
- Improve system resilience through automation and reliability practices
Security & Compliance Support
- Implement cloud security best practices:
- Secrets management
- Encryption
- Network isolation
- Work with security teams on vulnerability remediation and audits
Support compliance requirements (PCI/SOX exposure preferred, not mandatory)
Preferred Skills
Required Skills & Qualifications
Core Technical Skills
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Infrastructure
- Strong hands-on experience with GCP (GKE, VPC, IAM, Cloud SQL or equivalents)
- Solid Kubernetes experience in production environments
- Strong Terraform experience (state management, modules, environments)
- CI/CD pipeline experience with modern tooling
- Practical understanding of cloud security fundamentals
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools
Programming & Scripting
- Comfortable with Bash
- Working knowledge of Python or Go (automation, tooling, or debugging)
Nice to Have
- Experience in fintech or regulated environments
- Exposure to AWS or Azure in production
- Experience with platform engineering or internal developer tooling
- Familiarity with incident management frameworks and postmortems
